Rainbow colour & number sort and sequence game - Easy DIY!

I love finding little bits and pieces in the discount shops, especially in the craft section and wondering how I could use them in different ways for the family day care children as well as my twins.

When I came across these sheets of rainbow coloured foam I was just a tad excited I don't mind telling you! So many possibilites for this material but in the end I decided to make a little game to help with our sequencing, colour , number and shape recognition skills...and that was also fun!

I picked up some coloured craft sticks at the same time and then set to work drawing basic shapes on some and numbers on a few more. I left some blank so the girls could just match colours on a few of the sheets.

I then labelled each sheet on the back as 'Board 1', 'Board 2' etc  and wrote numbers in order on each of the rainbow coloured lines.

I did the same with shapes although I mixed up the sequences a little so that each 'board' was different.

And then it was time to match them all up....I made some easier than others so that a broad age range could have fun with them.

They were quite a hit and kept the 3 year olds very busy as well as encouraging lots of communication and problem solving skills.

Of course it is also a fantastic work out for those fine motor muscles and hand eye coordination but don't tell them that....they just thought it was fun!

I have saved a few more blank ones to do some scissor activities. I do love a versatile and budget friendly craft material don't you?
